Just curious, I know we all are hooked on boomboxes here but does anyone venture into collecting or listen to or own any small pocket am or am/fm transistor radios? I have been taking a liking to them lately and though small, they are amazing little sensitive machines and can pull stations in that even my JVC M70 and Panasonic RX -7700 can't get without having both antennas pulled out and Angled at weird contorted positions. I have all Panasonic RF models. One just am and 3 am/fm. They run on 9 volt or two aa batteries.

Here are two Panny RF models from late 70s or early 80s. Brushed metal facing. Great tuning, solid construction.

These are those super rare gravity defying radios...very hard to find! :-D

I cut me musical teeth on little transistor radios. When I was a kid I had a nice little pocket AM radio that ran on a 9 volt. I took that thing everywhere. I had the little ear plug for it. I may have to start looking for that now

Here is one just like I got from my uncle in 1976  it's minty new with original box, earphone and paperwork. Just no battery but I'd imagine the 9v battery would have exploded after 38 years.

That is pretty damn sweet. I never had anything nice like that. I remember having a little one with a leather case about that size

Yeah at 8-9 years old it was pretty cool. But now 8-9 year olds have iPhones and MP3 players and all sorts of computers, laptops, and game systems. What's this world coming to :nonono:

I have one of these "Owl eyes" Zeniths as well as others of theirs, they weren't the first commercial transistor set - that honour goes to PAM, a Pye export brand and Sony whose much smaller product was released at the same time and was this sort of size but Zenith did make stuff with real quality to it and some of their shirt pocket sets had large oval speakers that sounded amazingly good.
I have a dozen or so shirt pocket sets including the RGD Flirt in bright orange, some Sharps and the odd Fergie, Philips and Pye. They're great fun and better than that; take up very little space.

I have about 8-10 of different sizes shapes and eras!
My favorite is the simple General Electric black AM radio from 1968',I had one when I was aroynd 5-6 years old.I now have 2 of them.
My oldest is from around 1958-1959',it's a plain black AM with the old wire design speaker!!:0
I can't remember the brand but it works!
I have a Radio Shack Am/Fm which is nice as it has a tone switch!
Another beauty is the blue ball Panasonic with the long chain and ring!! Love these, they came in many colors.
Also have a Coxa Cola AM/FM radio in the shape of a pop machine! All work great, and yes I do occasionally take out the 68' GE!!:)
