Every year is in vienna the "Tram-day".
A festival of the communal city transport.
Old trams, busses and subways are shown.
Music, fleas and many more...

Our railroad-company is assocated with it, so also always there.
I´m the master on the wagon and for disposition of our flea and souvenir shop.

Here i am with an young guy at the WLB-flea :-P

Many old trams around

Nearly every generation is shown

At the day before i´ve seen something interesting in the working area there.
A big old dirty LASONIC compo
So i decided to try a change offer.
A very good one, for both

So i took this old SONY with me.
Tape and CD dead, but radio works fine and powerful.
It also owns an optical MD-link :-O

The changing would be no problem as usual.
Modern digital radio for an old broken dirty blaster.
The problem was, the worker it owned before is´nt in the company any more.
And nobody was able to say yes or no.
But after half an hour and some calls i got it!

And here it is:

Needs a lot of work - and clean up

Radio works well , tape not tested yet

the "echo" knob is missing and one pause-button weak.
But no damage around.
Therefore endless dirt.... ;-)

parts of the original label on it

The one worker told me he is about 15years in the company and the box was still there when he came in. :sin:
And the box is an EVERPLAYER!!!
The powerbutton was broken and spoiled.
So this radio was now playing endless over 15years!!!!
They only turned the volume down when going home.
Never plugged off!
So this speaks for the quality of LASONIC
Hope it becomes no shock now.
Plugged off after so many years...

And the box had an big usage at the event.
I gave it into the window of our wagon with a few "boombox-searching" sheets

And i got some feedback.
Hope anybody calls me next time... :-P

Tomorrow i take a big cleanup.
Then better pics.... :smooch:

Great Lasonic! Glad you were able to snag it. Hope it comes on again, after being switched off for the first time in 15 years. Beautiful photos, too, as usual. The tram celebration sounds like lots of fun! I also collect model/toy buses and trolley cars (USA version of trams), so I hope there were lots of tram models/photos/brochures/parts for sale. Did you find/take home any tram items?

One of my models (a Chicago trolley car, last run in Chicago in the late '50's; trolleys like this are still running in Boston, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Kenosha, Wisconsin)…

No, i sell them!
When we are wrecking old wagons, i part them out and we sell the collectible parts to the fans.
But i have many parts at home, for sure. ;-)

BTW: Do you know in vienna have exist many american trams?
After the big world war we bought some old cars from New York.
But this needs an own thread.
Because "the AMERICAN" is now fresh restored and back on track!

An echo nob, disco lights, stunning looks,
If I had a minty one I swear it would be the last one I ever needed.
But I always say that.

Ok one difference I can see between the Lasonic L-30 and the L-30k is
There is no echo nob on the L-30 :-/
Hey VS, how is the echo nob? is it like real echo?

I used to own one. Got it new back in high school. A lot of cool to the box, and it has OK sound. You really have to crank the box to get those tweeter lights to glow. On mine the phono in never worked right. The speakers do not lock-on, like some boxes, so often when the box was set down the speakers would fall off. That said I would buy on again. I wonder if it's still at my former workplace. It's a pottery, so I'm sure the weight of the box has been doubled by all the dust.

I hate that about some three pieces.
When mine gets here I plan to glue the speakers on.

I should have done that in the first place. Would of saved me years of wonderful frustration. I hope yours serves you as well as mine did me. Good times indeed.

Great clean up job, Vienna! Awesome story as well.
