One of the woofers (midbass?) is burnt out so I'm thinking I might as well replace them both, maybe also the tweeters. The woofers are mounted at the back (see image) so i guess its going to be a bit tricky finding something
suitable. :-/ Mountinghole diameter for the woofers is ~55mm and the distance between the screwholes(?=) on the tweeters is ~37mm.

Anyone done this on a RT200S? Reccomendations? Need a good source that will ship to sweden :hmmm:

I have upgraded both woofers on one of my RT-200s boxes, keep the tweeters though they are quite ok.

The tricky thing with the woofer replacement is that the large magnet secures the speaker in the case as you have discovered.

Once you have found a replacement woofer, make sure the height is the same as the original - you can pack out the magnet to hold the woofer securely.

Remember though, the left hand woofer is very close to the power supply....... :-O

Also, this is not a super high output box, be careful with the impedance of the replacement drivers.

Good luck, one of my favourite boxes.

Thnx for the quick reply, will focus on the woofers yes..where did you get yours from? Is the 3.2 ohm spec supercritical?

I used higher spec 3.2 ohm woofers from another Toshiba box.

Unlikely that these woofers are truly 3.2 ohm, most likely they are 4 ohm with a DC resistance of 3.2 ohm.

4 ohm woofers should be ok....

Hmm, I used to have one of those models as well. I thought it was creative how the speakers were mounted. They weren't attached to the front housing at all.

The tweeters are more robust than the woofers. 3.2 ohms because the amp is pretty wimpy and needs all the help it can get and higher impedance drivers are OK but unless the efficiency is better than your current drivers, it could result in lower volume but experience suggests that higher impedance drivers distort less at max volume so total usable volume might be the same.

I looked through my stash and found these but they are far more robust than your existing drivers. You would have to modify the rear mounts to make them work, although your toshi could never muster enough juice to ever burn these baby's out.

================

4" JVC drivers, 8ohms and 15 watts.

approx 3.25" from hole to adjacent hole
approx 4.5" (115mm) across diagonal holes
Approx 49mm from front flange to back of magnet.
70mm magnet diameter at widest location.

welcome to the site    i did change my speakers on my rt-200 also ,,most of the smaller boxes will have a set if the box you are taking them out is a parts box ,, the important thing is the ohms, and magnets which should not be too much of a problem as long they are the same size or close to it and deptth demensions that one there should be basicly the same as original as you want the front case to sit perfectly and not be desaligned :annoyed:     mine the chrome caps are now a bit bigger which makes it look a lot better

Mmyeah gonna take some glue and random ringshaped object to get them sitting just right, found a woodjar that might do the job heh..

Could perhaps hijack the external speaker outputs speced 3.2-8ohm but I guess the circuit expects there to be speakers connected to the internal
standard outputs too.
