Toshiba rt-s782 tape cassette not working?

Hey I purchased a rt-s782 all was working fine for about a hour then it suddenly stopped working , the tape seems to be in constant fast forward and won’t reverse.

I’ve taken the unit apart to see if I could see what they problem could be, but I’m no expert. anyone able to point me in the right direction.

The belts are probably shot.

I had one of these it was a nice little Boombox built like a tank.

Didn't watch the video due to constraints (my end), but if the unit has reed switches, clean them.

You need to remove the tape mech to change the belts. The rubber belts react to duty cycle they are stuffed. It's actually better to replace them before use as now they are probably wrapped around the pulleys and it makes it hard to remove all the black juice and you don't know what length they are.
