On this I haven't done anything to the cones except clean them. I did colour the tweeters and I used a really wide nib black whiteboard marker. Looked great when done but decided to leave the cones as you can't see them enough to worry.BassHead said:Congrats. This has always been one of my personnel grails. Never seen a deal for one on Ebay. What did you do to clean up that speaker cone? Do you just clean it (no paint). I don't really like the idea of using acrylic paint on a paper cone.
Was considering doing it with the JVC 550 because it had something spilled on it....but the grill will probably cover up this imperfection (at least most of it).

i would love a bb40 too but not for the stupid prices people are asking lol, always wanted oneBassHead said:Beautiful...this model looks better than the bb40 and you can garantee not as cheaply made
I agree. But if a BB40 came across at a price 50% more than the BB16, and I could only get one, I would have to pick the 40 every time! The 40 is such a beast which gives it it's place in boombox lore.
That's not to say that I wouldn't do everything in my power for a BB16. Check my signature. It's the only one listed as "wanted" .
Hmm i have one of these to!BassHead said:https://www.ebay.com/itm/TOSHIBA-RT-S893-RARE-BOOMBOX-GHETTOBLASTER-CASSETTE-PLAYER-WORKING-WATCH-VIDEO/113048810429?hash=item1a523bf3bd:g:BQQAAOSwJ5RbGz9r
Cool Bombeat 18. Actually didn't know about this one. It's a little dinged up, but apparently 100% functional. For $300 ain't bad for Ebay. I'm not a fan of the square grills on this model either. But it is still a beauty. Regardless, I've got a couple projects, and can't tackle this at the moment.

Nice! If I didn't own an RT-8290s, I would have seriously considered it. The BB18 is not much larger, and there are bigger fish to fry out on my "dream list". I do love my RT-8890s. That thing is with me on the regular, and still in....almost....mintyesque condition.
