I actually bought a set from a hardware store and found these incredibly valuable, especially for placing belts . In some cases it saves me from dismantling the decks completely so my fat fingers can do it.

I have several pick sets but always end up using a piece of thinner gauge wire with a bend on the end for belts.
I can bend it in any direction needed to fit in those tight and odd spots.

I use a bicycle spoke as you can unhitch it no problems and no sharp edges.

Yeah you can buy a whole assortment of these things for less than $10 shipped on eBay. They do the job that's what counts and they're a valuable tool.
