Condition wise - this set look mint
Heads sound filthy as hell - but this beast has got a sweet tuner and the VU's under the tape deck look hench.

What's with ALC though! :huh: - Why would you fit a Dolby circuit, decent sized meters but no rec level?


Damn you Hitachi


Anyone else got one of these?

What does everyone use for head cleaning?

I used to use Allsop 3 - but they are as rare as hen tits


What demagnetizer do you lot use?

Congrats mate i use cotton buds and meths to clean the heads failing that a finger and a lil spit lol, good luck

btw i never use dimagnitizers i find they trash the heads :-)

Nice goldy box.

I have a discwasher Dmag tape, does an ok job of demagnetizing.

Hen's tits must be rare, I've never seen any in Australia.

Just spiders with their own postcode :lol:

Once got told by a tech that Methylated Spirits can leave a residue, and they used Isopropyl Alcohol.

But, hey if it works then great. :thumbsup:

Friend of mine used to 'clean' the heads of his Panasonic RXC-100 with:-

Until I explained the error of his ways..... :-P

Yep, Isopropyl alcohol is the one I use. :yes:

my automatic recording level,

doenst suck that much.

i know the effect you speak,

but that rarely occurs,

and i think that occurs on badly ' tuned ' equipment.

from factory it usualy is great.

nice hitachi i have a similar one , trk 8190e

its veryy cool and kinda loud.

That Hitachi is one of the classic models that defined the era.Its one I ve wanted for a while but prices tend to go high on them.Congratulations on an amazing boomer!
