ok so i picked up this sony fh-3 yesterday nice box it is actually up for sale in the sale section.well i took the speaker grills off to see if i could replace the frial breaking square foam pads on them.i was looking and rememberd i have a pair of wireless advent'si have been keeping around for this reason.they are 4 ohm and i can fit the woofers and tweets with minimal mods to the cabs.do you think it would sound better with the bigger woofs or would i be ruining a good thing here.btw there is nothing wrong with the current speakers.

Those advent speakers only handles 15 watts. Look at the rear of the SS3 speakers and I think you'll find the current ones handles more. So it might be a downgrade, at least in power handling capacity.

Gotta agree with Norm on this one. I do not see the need for an upgrade or mod in this case. To experiment and see? I'd do it but likely you'd find yourself restoring to the originals. If the originals are fine your best to leave them alone as those likely handle more than 15w nominal.

If your intent is to sell, then I'd suggest not doing the mod.
If your intent is to keep, then I'd suggest doing whatever you feel like doing.

IMO (from a non technical specification standpoint) the original Sony speakers look better and stronger even though they're smaller than the Advents.
