The VZ2500 I sold - the sale fell through... After It sold for that incredible amount, I went back and decided to give it a very rigorous testing before shipping. That was when the damn gear in it cracked- right before my eyes! I was glad it happened before I shipped it at least- But after immediately telling the buyer I would have to pin the gear, he was ok with that, then next day got cold feet and cancelled the sale.... sigh...... so anyway..... live & learn.. :-/

Would've been better just to delay the shipping and take care of the gear without being that informative. Most buyers like that are not so technical to understand all that. If anything, it probably gave the impression of a high-maintenance issue plagued boombox which would frighten any buyer that just wants something to work.

But I would immediately offer a second chance offer to the next guy, whose bid is probably only $5 less? :hmmm: 50/50 you can still resurrect the sale. Just explain that you can't ship it for a week.

I thought about the 2nd chance thing, but ya know what? That machine was not worth that money! Cosmetically, it was ok, but not a show piece- I can't gouge people. I will re-offer it at a fixed price - a lot less than it fetched this time. I will offer it first to someone here afetr I get off my probie status.

You did the right thing. Even if you repaired it, should it fail immediatley on the new owner before he gives a feedback, he could tank you with a negative. And given eBay's new rules you don't want that. When you get ready to sell it, just be the honest seller you've demonstrated and note that the pin has been repaired and not original.

Good Karma = Good Karma in return.

Hey 45player, That's damn respectable of you. Don't seem to get much of that anymore. Nice to see there's a little left in this world!

Any eBay sale is risky with potential negative feedback. If you are unsure whether the thing will hold up for 30 days, just offer a warranty -- I have done that with high $$ stuff that I fixed / sold and it makes for a very comfortable sale for all involved -- I never had a return or warranty claim yet.

But if you'd like to offer it to the guys here for less $$'s.......... well that's definitely very :angelic: of you and worthy of high boomboxery spirit praise.

I agree with being honest with the guy, but sometimes being honest doesn't pay either :hmmm: So whats a person to do  My fiance says I am always to honest with people but thats my back ground and the way I was raised. The difficult part about those VZ models is the fact they have the built in record player which because of it being mobile can cause certain issues!! so you are better off like superduper said trying to keep it working at least for the 30 days after sale..I am sure when you have had enough posts on this forum someone would be glad to take it off your hands!!! Good Luck :-D :-D

45player, someone was definitely watching over you on the VZ. There's a possibility that the buyer would have received the VZ and had the part break shortly afterward. You would have gotten a negative on eBay and then the VZ might have gotten even more damaged in the return trip from sloppy packing by an upset buyer. ;-) I think It's good that it worked out the way it did.
