The 3 rules of a boombox are:

  1. Have a radio tuner and a cassette deck
  2. Have on board speakers
  3. Have a handle
So with these 3 rules in mind, I propose the smallest boombox ever made.

The Panasonic RX-54 is just barely larger than a badly made Walkman but follows all of the rules.

The speaker is on the back.

If you know any smaller, send them to the thread.

If you exclude "walkmans with speakers" I'd say it's a Sears 560.21030350. Stereo speakers, stereo mics.

If you went strickly mono, there's probably around 20+ smaller than this one, especially if microcassette is an option. If you go stereo, who wins? and is a detachable speaker a deal killer? The coolest one-piece MC Stereo Boombox is the Grundig MRR100, the Pioneer SK-Q10 using full-size cassettes is nice but I think the UNIX-3 is the best looking but it is slightly larger than the Pioneer.
