Hi everyone-I just got a crazy boombox for 2.49 and i passed it up walking by once and then I looked again and the Phillps logo got me.It's a AZ 1030/17 with 11 watts draw but sounds loud & powerful!
It also looked kind of hip because it was painted black! Born on June 2000'.
Now thins thing may not look that good and it said the cd player wasn't working but I knew better-it's a Phillips.
After a good cleaning everything works great!!
This thing really sounds good!!
I'm serious,it has bass refex speakers and has a dynamic bass-boost on it.
I like the special Dark Vadar black & silver colors!!
It's just nuts what you find sometimes.
So-check out the photos and let me know what you think-man,the price was right.
Not near as good as the Jamaican Flag M-90 but it has potential.
I may use this as a beater to carry around!
I meant the cassette and cd rock!!
Just need an antenna!
Have a super weekend-GB. :-) :-D  :-P  :w00t: :surf: :-O :choco:

Personally speaking,I do like its style  .The custom paint job is pretty interesting.Given it's insanely cheap price you might consider trying to clean up the paint job or respray it.You may be surprised what you come up with. There's really nothing to lose given what you paid for it.I mean, what can you get for $2.49 these days!!!!

On a side note,I'd like to know what you think about an issue concerning collecting which has troubled me.I,for one,Ghettoboom share your same fascination with virtually ALL boomboxes. No one can argue that your Phillips was a great price. It's hard to pass up such a good deal. However,I had to ease up a bit buying every good deal I run across even if it has decent sound. There's only so much space in my house.Though I like having a variety of boxes to choose from,my collection of old school gear will keep me amused for a long time. That said,I do have some 90s and 00s in my rotation but I really had to chill getting anything unless I felt it could generate some interest if I ever wanted to resell it .With me it became a matter of if my space at home is worth more than the great deal I am getting.Of course if you spend as little as you did on the Phillips you could painlessly re-donate it when you move on to another box. However I can't part with a blaster that easily to be truthful. As I feel we might be quite similar with this hobby  I'm curious to know how many boxes you have at this point.

Jovie, I think ths is a realy great idea for a thread. Let's open with a title topic seperate from this one so we don't take away from GB's post.

Good idea Oldskool :w00t:
ViennaSound-That spacey Phillips is an awesome sounding box! I found one for cheap and love it.It will go really loud! The unit has a software bass, mids, highs equalizer that will actually dial in the type of highs I prefer. You may not like its looks but it IS a performer!

Hi Jovie-I have to -I MEAN HAVE TO CUT BACK!! I now am at 60!! :-O
I want a few grails now-I just have to pass on some of this newer stuff unless maybe if it's NIB!
I'm running out of room to.
Just got some nice apple boxes so some can be put away without walking into them or just covering to much floor space.
I do love working on them-it keeps me busy because I still only work PT so it's a cheap hobby compared to collecting cars which I still do but I finally got that collection down to 4!

It's so much fun-checking out different sounds and how some compare to others.
Now that i have a M-90,I'm restoring that and will need a WX-1,Big-Ben,Telefunken Studio 1M, and a Conion C100f!
Man-I'm getting there-yes maybe a GF-1000 to since I have a 767,777H,777Z-the 999 or909 arent's as appealing as the 1000!
Now then I'll be in boombox heaven!
Thanks Joive-I always like your replies, they're very analytical and interesting!
Have a great one-GB. :-)

Man, I pass up those boomers all day long but for less than $2.50 it would be hard to leave behind! Not to use, but to strip the speakers out of it
