yesterday --was one of my rare sad rides home from my friend ramons house
well - it wasnt ALL bad --
i managed to avoid each and every car jacker in his lovely hood
and negotiated $$ the 'great family value' frequent flyer rate with the 4th nicest
hooker on his street
ok --so WTF
wheres the sad part ??
its like this ::
after a few weeks of trying --ramon told me to come pick up my FOREVER broken POS
grundig c9000 -- :'-( :'-(
it had been a long time wish list box for me -
small size // bass and treble controls --and a SPECTACULAR FM stereo tuner
and a real sweet dial lamp..
finally - i got this one from france
but - the deck had no sound and the bass sounded like the speakers were shot
( the tuner was still EXTREME great )
when he said the speakers were NOT broken --just not 'bass bangers'-
and the deck could never be repaired --i was hurtin bigtime --
usually --if i really like a box --i can bypass any speaker problems by using the
ext speaker set-ups-
and replace the broken decks with my ever-so-good sony D6C outboard deck
but -- looking at the box - on the ride home --i saw that there were no RCA or 1/8"
line-in or out jacks --just the DIN !! --yikes
and - worse --there were no 'normal' speaker connectors-
just some 'impossible' weird holes back there
so - i figured this box was on its way to my far away //sorry fubar collection-
never to be seen again--
but --it was too late to get into my storage building --
so - i brought this dead sucker home --
--
just for 'old times' i whipped out my DIN cord and the D6C-
had forgotten that the 5 pin deal was BOTH record AND playback
and BOINK --made a perfect recording off the super-sharp fm tuner
all encouraged --i bent up some custom paper clip jacks -to create the speaker
connections --used my 2 best bass box speakers - the tele and the marantz--
and BOINK = BASS - like YES !!!!
-----------------------------------
one might argue that 'its NOT a box"
however -- the c9000 runs strong on D cells -
and the D6C is a 4AA job --
its got a handle
and heaven knows ----a rack could be built --
well - anyway -- the sad trip home turned into one of the
most capable and best sounding rigs on the planet !!!
