Nice piece. I gave more tapes than I received. But I also made the baddest ones around. Lol.
It pains me that I lost two full caselogic suitcase type holders that I left in my soft top Isuzu jeep.
I had a lot of priceless and irreplaceable mixtapes that I made in those cases. Man, to think of the countless hours listening to Detroit and college radio shows to make them, and have em jacked from my ride sucks big time.

good writing --good story

you guys might never call random fm radio grabs 'a mix' --
as its all so unruly -- :-O
but there is always at least a time//era theme --

and then throw in a little AM radio red sox inning or two
a ski report from the late 60s

some frankie lane tunes ------------ :w00t:

I must say its been awhile I have done a recording on cassettes or for that matter any mixes, but I can relate to that story.

Its the time you spend setting up the equipment making sure everything is in tune, then just letting it flow one mix after the other.

To me it is an art and it is more special once you're done sitting back and listening to your work, I never try to flaunt my work to others in fact I rather just have people enjoy the music. Thats what really is all about.

I don't DJ for parties, I just do it because I love music thats just me.

Hmm..I never had trouble or spent a lot of time setting up equipment, mainly because I only had boomboxes back in the day. :-/

On another note, what do you guys think of finding an 80s mixed tape in a boombox or walkman you buy from the fleas? I've had that happen a few times. :w00t: :-)

No disrespect Restocat.

In my case I had both back in the dayz boomboxes and DJ equipment. When recording on a DJ equipment especially on a high end tape deck its about calibrating so you can have a nice well recorded tape. Back then I had your usual Technics 1200 turntables, Rane Mojo mixer, Crown amp, and a BBE for playback, but heres where the fun is: Rane Compressor, Rane EQ,Tascam DAT, and then the one and only AIWA XK-S9000 tape deck.

Thats where I say there is an art on recording and mixing is not just drop the cassette in and lets record. I have recorded on boomboxes but is not the same.

We have a few tapes from my brothers here on BBXY but I would be remiss if I did not especially thank Ford93 for his lounge session tapes, we have
played those endlessly.
