I normally post a thread on every new box I get with loads of photos, but I've been a bit busy of late and have got a bit lazy lol

So here are the latest four to enter the Northern boom room :-)

The Hitachi TRK8600 was a cheap eBay deal that my sister got me from Cheshire. Did the usual bath and service but I also cut and fitted a new tuner window. This is in a different league soundwise to most Hitachis

Always wanted a Lasonic and yes I know it's not a 'proper' one but I had an 80gb iPod knocking around with 14000 tracks on that I wasn't using. This popped up on eBay with a super cheap BIN because it didn't work, pick up only in London tho. Persuaded the seller to pack it if I arranged the courier. Turns up really well packed in mint condition...and working! Need to sort a couple of things but this thing is surprisingly good. Creaks when you carry it but I love the look and the LEDs are really cool. Really chuffed with this one

Next was the Panasonic RX F32. Another cheap eBay deal. Just buzzed on tape but a bath, service and resprayed grills and this thing absolutely pounds for a tiny box. Was much smaller than I expected but now fully working and an absolute gem

Lastly was the JVC RC838 that I got in a trade from Rory...again did the usual bath and service. Absolutely love the look of this and it sounds pretty good

So there you go, the last four into the boom room...all really different from each other, but all good stuff!

Are those 8600's really THAT good, ive heard a lot of folks really rate them but are they really that much better than 8190,8290, 8800 etc.

Great selecrtion there Si, some great new additions. That Panny looks so small next to the Lasonic!

Had an 8190 and 8080 to compare with and yes the 8600 is way way better but it's no where near an M70...definitely a box worth having tho :-)

Yeh the lady Lasonic seller was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful, did a cracking job of the packing too :-)

I'm also a big fan of one thread per box, but this is pure boombox love Si. Love the way you made the JVC and Hitachi shine again! Enjoy them, good work!

Thanks mate...it's amazing what hours of cleaning and polishing can do! :-)

Yeh I think it comes in red, white or black...I always liked the look of it but assumed it would be a bit weak and the extra speakers were more for show to compensate for weak sound. But then someone who has a big collection said it was great sounding so I decided I had to have one! This was not working properly (100% functional now!) so I got it for very little off eBay...I'm gonna keep an eye out for the other colours now as it's got both the look and the sound and is well worth having! Good luck in your search :-)

I'm actually listening to the Lasonic right now. Got Bobby Byrd playing at high volume...it goes to 40 and yes you guessed it I've got it on 40! This fecker is loud and negligible distortion absolutely maxed out...well worth £15 :-)

Yep that was a mistake, been listening to funk on top volume for the last hour and it's handled every track so far :-)
