and since i was messing around with the photochop i wanted to see what my car would look like lowered.
Im eventually going to drop it for better handling, but I'm not sure if i should go with coilovers or a cup kit (springs/shocks)

Great car, great number plate.

Interesting: this car seems to be sold all the time as JETTA in usa.
In europe only the 1. and 2. series are called so.
Then 3. series was the VENTO
The 4. series (yours) was the BORA
now series 5 is again JETTA

I also remember the GOLF was sold as RABBIT , or? :hmmm:

Nice, I lowered my car but it dropped A LOT and after a few months I put the stock coils back in as I was getting tired of the cat converter hitting everything in sight!!

BLUE ONE !!

Whatever you buy, make sure it gets good ratings on the VW board (I think it is called vwvortex). Otherwise you risk buying a system that has horrible ride. You really need to find out what the spring rates are.

Did you have that license plate rim made or did you find that?

That is just to cool :sin: :surf:

I think my girl got it off eBay. But its a custom job, The letters are vinyl stickers.

Reli- I'm also subscribed to the VW vortex. Tons of great info there but just by reading the posts, there seems to be a lot of douche bags on the forum. People getting flamed left and right if their car isn't equipped just so. But whatever, I'll be using it to get info on products and maintenance mostly.

That's a nice plate frame. :-D I'm surprised my wife hasn't found something like that for me.

I too am subscribed to vwvortex, and it is true that all the guys on there don't really have anything nice to say. I don't post there anymore because of all the disrespect and hatred of peoples cars not being "right" and what not. I don't have the money to make my car like all those people on there with BBS rims and H&R coils and everything like that. So I make it as best I can. As should you.

You should really get coils for yours. I have coils installed on mine. My Jetta AKA "Vento" isn't slammed. The wheels i have are too wide so if I were to go lower it would rub the fender too much. It is my daily driver so I need it to be low enough to still drive on the crazy and patched up roads of the dallas metroplex.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

Here is mine:

Hope you fix your car to your liking!

That's pretty much how every car forum is. I don't mind, in fact I participate in some of the back-and-forth. If everyone said "nice ride" it would be a bit boring IMO.

Good luck with the car, and if you buy some suspension parts don't just go by people's opinion, like "oh it rides nice" ........I've found over the years that people have such different opinions about how a car rides that what they say is almost useless. Everyone has a different tolerance level when it comes to ride quality. Best bet is to demand spring rate information, and compare it to what the stock spring rates are. And only buy a well-known company like Eibach, H&R, Bilstein, Boge, Koni, D2, TEIN, etc. because it takes a lot of experience to design the valving inside the damper bodies.
