your gorgeous discolite looks so tiny !!
is is sitting back alot ?
None of the radio's are actually sitting on each other, they are on the steps so, one step back on each level which makes the 951 and Disco look smaller. The 951 and Disco are about the same size and the 951 is the same size as the 975. They are not small

Nope, the disco is not small, basically a 777 in size. Still floored with that box

Now rate them for sound  I am curious.

Peace
Sound wise, of course the are all different.

Starting with the Lasonic's, they are all different as well. The 975 is known for it's LBS bass system and will hit REALLY hard compared to just about anything. The 951 has a warm overall tone, but not the highs of the 935. I still think the 935 sounds best. Ton's of volume, good bass and stellar highs.

The Disco sounds really good, better than I ever would have thought it would sound. Loud, good bass, fun to look at. Great box.

The Helix is a looker and since I've done a ton of work on it lately, it has gotten better, but it's no J1.

The J1 is loud and rocks hard but it doesn't have bass at low volumes. It's meant to ROAR! It seems to be happiest when it's doing that.

In the end, I'm happy with them all.

yeah the j1 is happiest when it's cranked up loud , the 935 is happy at any volume and it holds together at high volume seems like the sound just gets bigger and bigger , really the 935 can do about anything without stressing itself sound wise. i think the 1st edition 931 had better bass but nowhere near as good sounding overall.

i remember working a job and one dude brought one of those late 80's fisher 3 piecers to the job and it was pretty loud but my 935 was also there and the ass kicking it laid down was epic!. i play what i want to hear and if you want to compete you better bring the pain or lose badly. those garth brooks wannabees got a taste of metallica and there was justice for all. and when i say metallica i mean the good **** not these new albums.

anyway an awesome stack of night beasts.

I have to be honest, I am always surprised on the reaction the Helix gets. In Chinatown, I had the J1, Peter had his C100 and Adrian had his Helix and people went straight to the Helix. I'm not gonna lie, it's some sweet eye candy!

I agree with you Floyd, the 935 is the best of the big three. I've never owned a 931 although it's on "The List". The 935 does everything great including producing bass across the volume spectrum. Like I said, the J1 just does not make bass at low volume. On the street, you better step back, but in doors at lover volume I have to have the EQ maxed on the low end and it's so so.

I used to have a Fisher 3 piece. It was their first CD boombox. Absolutely the worst radio I ever owned (at that time, I own worse now  ). More of a boombox wanna be. Infact it pissed me off so much skipping the cd that I smashed an acoustic guitar over it and totalled them both!
