I just won a filthy, banged up, parts missing 777 from the Bay tonight.
I honestly didn't think I was gonna win and put in a bid earlier today on a whim, thinking it would be a good candidate for a restore project.
The listing was pretty misleading, saying POWER SUPPLY NOT INCLUDED. I asked the seller about it and by power supply she meant lead cord. and she told me that it is fully functional. So I got that going for me! But I got a long road ahead to make it look presentable.
Some of the things missing include a couple of chrome switch caps(Tape Operation, SNRS, but I think most are the same) and both grills. It also looks like I'm gonna need at least one tape deck door as one of them is cracked. Other than that I'll take it apart and clean off a crap load of stickers and the years of neglect and funk, maybe some paint. and I should have a nice grail for a bargain price! I'll post more when I receive it and as the process goes on.
Wish me luck! :-D

I'll probably keep the rising sun sticker on it, it looks dope!

Congratulations!! Yes, that 777 will clean up nicely. The switch cover for the tape selector is just a little bit bigger than the rest, but still, pretty much the same.

It's almost totally done-just needs a back to be excellent.

Awesome!!!
Should be fun to work on and a real project.
There are a bunch of parts for these available on ebay.
at least everything you need!
Nice score and with about 6-7 hours worth of labor it should be near mint

Hi there-Blah Blah-I still have unopened cassettte with those stickers on them from the 80's- I think from Musicland.
I remember the 8-tracks having those as well! Nice!
Have a great one-GB. :-)

Nice pickup! A couple of things I've noticed: the tuning knob is not the original, the original one was bigger, and left the scratch round the knob that you can see. Also, Fatdog is correct, the missing 'tape operation' selector is bigger than the other selectors. It's good that aerials have survived intact!

I'm sure you'll get it sorted! :-)

Alright! I got the box on Saturday, and Im pretty pumped about my bargain box! It came pretty well packaged with a ton of bubble wrap but It is filthy as F@#K! I took off all the stickers except the rising sun one, I think it looks cool and gives it character. I gave it a quick once over for the photos but I'm gonna be cracking it open to clean it inside out.
I tested all the functions and I extremely happy to say that its all working! I am really impressed with the tape decks, they sound really good. The volume is scratchy along with some of the other knobs but it shouldn't be a too bad to clear up.

Here's some pics with my bonsai tree. Enjoy!
