Nice. Any other advantages, besides the larger capacity?
Yes sir. It offers 2 charge modes. 2AMP rapid, 1Amp Soft charge. It also has a condition mode to rejuvenate and balance your batteries which helps when they're being used in groups. You will almost always have one or two that exhaust themselves before others. While you will still have this to a degree due to cell strength, this charger also monitors each cell individually to supply an intelligent charge for each one.

I have noticed my batteries run about 10 percent longer than when charged in my other charger.

Hands down one of the best investments a boomer can make IMO :-)

How good is this charger! A great investment for any boomboxer

Very true.

I now spend my days enjoying my radios instead of being tied down to a cord by either charging or powering my radio on AC. I go to sleep with semi tired batteries and wake up to a full set.

There are two things I grab ahold of when I wake up. A fresh set of Ds and my boomer..

Plus, another side note. While it doesn't 100% bother me, all boxes have a degree of 50/60hz hum when plugged in, plus you risk a power surge when away and a storm pops up while your at work, etc.. With rechargeable batteries and this charger, all of these issues are gone.

I can now enjoy my radios leisurely on batteries. This charger charges so efficiency, quickly and safely, that I no longer have to rotate. Just pop them in at bed time and they're done when I wake up. Something that was unheard of before.

Heck yeah. I have two chargers now because I was so impressed with the first. And because I have kids, I bought a combo pack of tenergy batteries to cover all the AA, AAA, C, and D batteries I may ever need.

Okay, I could use 4 more D cells. The baby swing and rocker uses 5.

^^^I know right? It might be my OCD kicking in but doesn't it annoy you when items take 3 AA or 5 D's etc..?

FYI. I wrote the company for information on the charger. I asked if the charger had a temperature sensor since a few AA cells I had (that I knew were on their last leg) reached 126 deg F in the charger. Their response is below but first...

A word of caution on this charger. If charging in Soft mode (1A) if the power blips at all, it will default to Rapid charge (2A). Normally that wouldn't be an issue if you are charging a depleted high capacity battery rated at 2,000mAh or higher however, if the power blip occurs towards the end of the charge or with a lower capacity battery charging (less than 1,000mAh), well...you might come home to find it has fizzled out, leaked, exploded and/or has reduced life afterwards. At that point, you would have to rely on -Delta V to catch when charged (temperature is not monitored). They warn against rapid charge in the manual with batteries that are 700mAh or below yet their charger defaults to rapid :hmmm:.
Rarely should this be an issue since most modern AA NiMH are at least 1,800mAh or higher but nonetheless is still a possibility with older batteries. Especially if you are charging AAA's rated at 700 or lower. I also can't imagine a higher capacity battery that's 90% charged with less than 1,000mAh charging storage left...would like a rapid charge to finish it's top off :-)

This is a great charger no doubt. The Cadillac of chargers however, every device has it's flaws and the Powerex Maha is no exception. The work around is a UPS (which I have just in case).

Here is their response on safety related to temperature and impedance:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Powerex / Maha Energy.

The MH-C808M does sense for impedance but not temperature. The charger will detect if the battery is not suitable for charging based on impedance.

Thanks!
