Tell me. Why is it that your 1st box is always special?

YouTube video at the bottom:

Today I got enjoyment out of blasting my GE 3-5267A while getting some last minute work out of the way before the Monday work week.

This GE was my first portable when growing up and even though I have much bigger and more popular ones I keep coming back to my 1st box  .

If you have to ask why, well you'll never understand. It's more than collecting or being worldly popular.
This thing has evolved with me over time and is special (to me) and I believe I would keep it forever :-). Not even another model of the same box in better shape will do. It has to be THIS box.

Parts have failed over time on us both yet after a repair (usually by me) we're back at it. Everywhere I go...its goes..(except work or places it may get damaged). I have one other box that this conversation happened at the shop:

Repair tech "It's not worth it to repair"...Me "Yes it is. Just fix it"

Short video clips due to possible copyright on youtube. Songs cannot be played for very long periods on some sites but if you like the one song its by the Hollies and is called Long cool woman in a black dress :-). This little dude actually thumps for little 4" speakers. The highs are incredible. The camera doesn't do this box justice though. Oh well. Something different for me to post :-) Enjoy.

An interesting question indeed. As far as I'm concerned, I liked the look of BB's for quite some time before I bought my first (Hitachi TRK-8130) so when I took the plunge and actually bought one for myself, I was really pleased with it - I was cool at last!!!

I suppose a first box can be held in a higher regard than you may usually expect because it's special, a first cool purchase that makes a lasting impression.

"Repair tech "It's not worth it to repair"...Me "Yes it is. Just fix it" " - I couldn't have put that better myself!

I enjoyed the music in the video, I saw The Hollies live in 1974 - brilliant!

Mine was Panasonic RF 5310 and still love that box. The sound is amazing with lots of clarity. I loved the perforated speaker design with big and small holes. The second one was Sharp GF9696. Still I love both these boxes and have doubles in my collection. I travel to the past and enjoy these boxes a lot!

Always remember the fun of opening the box and getting it out. I love the smell of new electronic gadgets. :-D
It adds another dimension.
I have an M70 that still smells like new!

As a child it was mine and I had full control of it,
I have loving parents yet growing up was equally great as it was difficult!

I guess we all have a nostalgia thing going as we get older. I have plenty of radio's to choose from. But my TRC-920 still gets a good 30% of my time with everything else getting the rest. I have big radio's and I use them, but it's tough to navigate a crowd with a 34" long radio. If I'm going someplace for the weekend, the TRC-920 fits well in the car with the luggage and other gear without taking up too much room. It also has enough power to POUND out doors as well as good quality sound and strong bass at low volume.

Also, I think it looks great and expresses to the world what I am trying to say when I'm rockin' down the street

My first box was one of those yellow Sony "Sports" waterproof boxes. I even re-purchased it off Ebay a couple years ago thinking I'd get some kind of nostalgic feelings from it. But I promptly got rid of it again because it's such a POS

Needless to say, I didn't spend shiat on audio gear while in school. All my "disposable" money went into cars and bikes.

LMAO...haha

My first was originally supposed to be my brothers. Mum had picked it up at one of those parking clearance sales the local pop radio station had hosted back in the mid-80s...

He initially agreed to pay mum back what she paid in installments but later tried to back out of the deal. I offered to buy it and after a few months the wee beastie was mine! It blasted me through High School before it fell apart from use. I have since obtained a replacement.
