teleton vst8000(citizen synth box aka)problems

hello everyone,got this recently.its a lovely big box with awesome looks but mine has a few issues id like to put right.
1.the deck-does everything physically ie all the buttons work,but no sound at all?????
2.the controls for bass,treble,balance etc at the bottom of the unit-the balance works ok however the rest ie the bass and treble sliders etc have no effect on the sound quality.ive tried switch cleaner to no avail.
anyone got any ideas?id be greatful good buddys

Strange set of symptoms there Andy...sounds like you need a techie answer as I'd just be guessing

the controls seem to be better now si bro,but the deck-im convinced over a period of time the head has demagnetised,or its just worn out,but,it looks in very good condition bro so its just plain wierd

sorry to bump this one up again boys but just got it back from storage and this time want to cure the probs once and for all.the deck still needs sorting and the slider issues are still prominent.if you can please help me id be much appreciated,as a local tech guy in my town charges a small fortune for repairs
