Telefunken Studio = tape eater?

I've heard that the Telefunken Studio (and maybe any mechanically controlled deck) can be a tape eating problem because if you don't press play hard enough the take up reel sometimes doesn't turn which can cause the tape to wrap around the pinch roller. How much of a problem is that with this deck?

that applies to all tape decks its indicative of the tape transport system. Thats why you have to clean the heads and pinch roller.
