whats up guys ...well here we go on this one this is another box left out for the morning trash but i belive is well worthy of a full restoration .1st off all the trim is heavily tarnished so i began cleaning that and had some good results so far.so today after work i decided to get started i completly dis asembled the whole box removing all the componets and all the electronics spkrs.etc.the grills are in great shape no dents or rust to speak of but the metal trims are all tarnished so i gonna do my best to polish them out.also gonna paint the entire case on this one because it had some old paint specs and scratches i don't think im gonna have to hard of a time finding a close match in champagine color :thumbsup: the only thing that is bothering me is the heavy tarinish on the casette buttons so if any one has some ideas on removing them or an alterniate plan please share that with me. :thumbsup: i got as far as complete dismantale trims all came off without a glitch some were glued in but i was able to cut that out with an excato knife and it went for a dunk in the tub to see all the blems looks pretty good so far here are the pics.....

Well i ran into my first snag...after spending a few hours trying to restore the trim i had no sucess :sadno: :sadno: it was so badly oxidized that after you remove all the tarnish its heavily pitted so that idea went out the window :dunce: :dunce: so i have to paint them i tryed afew different colors and came up with a flat black i think it blends over pretty well when i spray the grills i might paint them chassis color just not shue yet :hmmm: here is a pic let me know what you guys think..

well i don't know how i'm gonna last on this one ...rember i said this color was gonna be an easy match...yea right i went to4 paint stores and not even close...on my last resort i found a very close color..so all excited i came home and began to apply the color...to the primed box that i completed this morning so as i began to apply color my neighbor was applying silicone tire shine to his car and i was in my shed with the door closed and exhaust fan on and all you heard was !@#$%^ ^&$##$%#@$%%^^...i now have what they call fishs eyes all over the box.. :sad: :sad: so i closed the door and will try this again sometime tommorow gonna have to sand the whole thing down and start over...your truly :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

I like the look of the black mouldings. Are you planning on the cassette keys and knobs too?
I would definitly try the body color on one grill to see how it looks

Yeah, that gold chrome is a beeyotch!! Most boxes with it has oxidation problems...

Black is a great option for that box!

could'nt belive how bad it really was.. so im glad you guy's like the color that is all i could do with that.. :thumbsup:

thats my plan frankie..I think it will look great ...but first i have to clean up todays mess have alot of sanding to do :dunce: :dunce:

Well I was able to get some color on this last night still have to fix the feet and respray the bottom of the box I ran out of paint ..did a fast make belive assembly so here is some progress....... :thumbsup:
