Formerly desired, recently acquired...
As previously stated HERE, I just copped Johnny's Technisonic Conion TC-999... The plan for today was to do some clean up work, spray some Deoxit here and there, and maybe - weather permitting - take the box outside and snap a few shots.
1st things 1st... I figured that since I was gonna open it up, I might as well take some pics of the inside of the box...
Truth be told, I've never and never will do a Driptip/Patron type cleaning... I'm simply too lazy for such an undertaking and don't have the time, patience or technical knowhow to take a box apart piece by piece, clean it, and put it all back together again. That said, all I do is take care of the most visible parts - like the speakers and function switches - by blowing compressed air on 'em or wiping 'em down with a moist cloth. The other stuff, i just don't worry about too much...
I didn't take a lot of "before and after" pictures... To be honest, I have no "before" pictures of the outside of the box... I do have a few "after" pics tho:
More pics of this box will be on the way months from now.
BTW, on a related note... I'm not so sure that the TC-999 is a 3-way speaker system. It seems to me that those "tweeters" don't do much of anything. Like the Tecsonic J-1 Super Jumbo, when I cover 'em up with my hands, the sound remains the same. There are wires running to 'em tho - perhaps they're condenser microphones. Then again, unlike the Super Jumbo, maybe the TC-999 wasn't marketed as a box with a 3-way speaker system. Still, to look at it tells another story...
Once again, thanks to Johnny for the great sale/purchase!
