Technics sa-c05l (tape head seems dead)

Hi, I've just purchased a technics sa-c05l but unfortunately there is no sound from the the tape desk.
The mechanism functions perfectly otherwise. There is no magnetic noise that would be expected when a demagnetiser is used. The wires to the tape head do not respond to touch or give any feed back when switch on (play). I've checked all micro switches on tape desk.
The radio, phono, aux function perfectly and although not not a lot of bass sounds lound and quality.
I'm new to this site and wondered if you guys have any ideas.

Really like this box so determined to get it going again.

Got it on bay.
Will be investigating the pre-amp section as I've got no signs of life from the head or wires that attach to the Head. I know you have one of these so will be inviting you around so that I can get some reading with my multi meter if that's ok?

Sorted!!!! Found the offending transistor and replaced it with the same component from my junk component box.
Sounds very good. If you've got one and I can help... Kind of know my way around the circuit boards for this box now.

I would but the box isn't in a good place right now. Ungoinging a massive clean up, belt change, lubrication, contact clean and polish. Will get the Pentax out when it is recognisable.
