I was up the beautiful Adirondacks this past week. I stopped in Saranic Lake NY at a nice store(Ampersound) that sells musical instruments. I noticed a bunch of sealed TDK SA 90 cassettes.. I asked mark the owner of the shop if anyone else had expressed an interest in them. He said you are the only one who has asked about them, that I can remember.

I asked him if he would make a deal on all of them. He said sure and I got 22 TDK-SA 90 tapes for $.75 each.

Quite a good deal! :-D HE even gave me 2 Nice TDK zipper carrying cases with the tapes! :-)
How do they compare with Maxell XLII? HE did have 4 of the 60 minute type on the shelf.

Are they the earlier ones with the black casing and the silver labels? Those were great tapes!!

Both Maxell XLII and TDK SA are very good cassette tapes. They are not the final word in what compact cassette has to offer, but those new to the format, if they could get hold of a very good 3 head cassette deck would be impressed by the level of performance from those tapes. If you were after a deeper understanding of different cassette tape types, check out the guys at http://www.Tapeheads.com. I think they like a tape vintage of '80s up to mid '90s, but don't quote me on that.

Hope you are enjoying your haul :-) :-) :-)

I agree. Everything I had back in the day was on those cassettes. Some of them still sound really good after all these years.
