As part of the restoration of my RC-M90, I would like to restore the shine to the tape head.
Beyond the cosmetic aspect, the reading quality is obviously not good.

Do you have any advice to give me to fix this ?

You can polish the tape surface, you want to remove any tiny bumps of corrosion. Clean with acetone.

or use this;

I use a pinch of ultra fine steel wool . it will clean these without scratching them up. You can clean the entire head in no time. Just don't use a lot of pressure and avoid going over the stickers if you can
.
You can blow the debris away with compressed air to get the steel wool bits out afterwards.

Very important to mention using 000 wool if OP chooses this route. I'd clean and possibly find a re-lapper (in the States are the only one's I'm aware off) if they still need attention.
