Hello.
I have attached a movie clip of my rewind problem on saba 426.

Everything works now but rewind stops and disengage a second after pressing button.

There is no brake applied. I have cleaned everything and new belts.
I think its the mechanism in the top left of the deck.
Anyone have any tips of what to do and how it should work?

With a tape inside it rewinds really slow until it stops.
Thanks.

Testing more and both ff and rewind are really slow as if there is something in the mechsnism seized. But i have checked and it seems fine except som gears thar spring loaded by pressure.

Play is fine and stable. I can see the idler rubber tire against the gear working fine.

Flywheel is spinning fast so its not the motor

I think this sucker is the problem. When rewinding and ff the belt wheel starts to spind separately on the axle. The gear wheel onnthe other side of the same axle then of course slows and stops to spin.

What kind of clutch is this? Why do the belt wheel spin separately?
Is it in case of stuck tape to prevent motor or belt burn?20200626_162203.jpg

It is quite hard to tell without being in front of it and seeing it in action.
Something tells me it needs a good cleaning up and test as you go before adding any further lubrication.

it’s to prevent the tape from snapping when the tape (going full speed) is suddenly stopped by the loaded motor & flywheel. If it’s slipping and you are sure that friction isn’t a factor, the clutch surfaces might be glazed & and not properly holding; then you’ll have to disassemble it and deglaze the surface.

Thanks for the tips.

I found that the slipping occurred at the innermost plastic nut that is pressed on the axle.

That is not the clutch just a plasic nut which the spring is resting on.
That nut slipped quite easily.
I glued it on the axle. The clutch is a fabric material.between the belt pulleys.
Will test it later.

Due to differences in terminology, not sure exactly what is slipping, but based on the suggestions, I think you now have an idea of how to resolve this. Unfortunately if you are saying that the slipping is not due to clutch but how the gear is affixed to the shaft, then it's fair to conclude that this is another example of pressed-on nylon parts shrinking over time and splitting. If you look carefully, you'll probably see hairline crack on the part. Glue might work, for awhile. But I wouldn't bank on it as a permanent long term fix. I've seen nylon parts eventually crumble to bits, like humpty dumpty .

Yeah you are exactly right. There was a hair fine crack in the nylon nut. Super glue fixed it. Like welded now:)
