Wow! all at once I see some beautiful finds on this site.
My finding is not quite as beautiful as some that I have seen today but is does seem to be the highest in quality that I've found this year. and it came courtesy of my favorite thrift store.
What know ye of this Panasonic RX 5150? does anyone have this model?
It is about the size of my Lasonic 920 and has a hefty weight to it as well.
I enjoy the strong ambience feature, but in side by side taste test, the Panasonic falls short because it is missing the delicious highs that the Lasonic has.
The Panasonic sounds like a good box with a blanket over it.
I will enjoy your feedback on this one.

Yep, agree with you on the Panny, build quality to die for.

I have the one with slightly different grill and trim, same electonics.

It's a big box but the sound just isn't.....s But they are a good looker.

Nice find in the wild, OSS. I would think quite a few members here have the RX-5150. They are a great carry box. I agree about the "highs" too.

I have a 5150 and between the build quality and other things it's probably the quentissential best all around performing box for carrying around, battery use and all.

I Like the 5250 but the one I have looks like it was left on the beach for a few years straight.

I have more versions of the 5150 than any other box. Check out my post, "And then there were five." Remember the old saying: You can't have too many 5150's!

Well it took me all season, but I count this as my only quality Thrift store find this year.
The Panasonic 5150 is a GREAT sounding box when you put some tweeters in it.
The mono,stereo,ambience switch is outstanding.
I also gave it some grey and black.

Not as good as with replacements.

I think (and probably am wrong) that the stock ones are piezo crap.

Yes, this boxes sound improved greatly after I installed tweeters.
The originals were piezo.
PM me if you want to trade this great sounding box for another.
Issue with a scratchy volume knob but the tape deck works.
