I've never owned one of the black shiney boxes before but did like the look of the Super Jumbo's. I like that they were big, bold, iconic and if they sounded decent then it was worth a shot.
After getting a Supertech version ( from a member that should know better) that was sent to me in clingfilm with two screws holding the whole box together, a weak channel and no lights. I decided to see if I could get a second box. Luckily I found an incomplete Larsen Q100 version in Italy (risky) that was very cheap. The Larsen was missing parts, a badly damaged back with busted screwposts, also some cracks on the top. It did sound very good however and importantly the lights all worked.
I knew that Lee (StereoMad) had restored a couple of these so lumbered the poor man with my two parts boxes to see if we could make one good one.
Here are some pics of the boxes and restoration

Some of the work carried out by Lee.
Stripping the two boxes
Grafting screwposts ( from an Aiwa!!)
Filling cracks and spraying the top.
Painting Speakers
Painting grilles.
Swapping and polishing brightwork.
Replacing missing screws.
Cleaning and re assembling.

Lots of work from Lee and I'm very grateful. The finished box is way over my expectations.
