I got a Sharp 5P-37G from germany that I would really like to feed a line in from a dvd player (probably just RCA in or from a channel 3/4 converter box). BUT, I can't seem to find a cable locally that converts from what must be a european standard plug?

Can anyone help point me in the direction of a converter of some sort?

thanks

We never used such sockets in Europe ( i mean the bottom one) :hmmm:
I saw em on some old TVs , but no idea what standard is that :hmmm:
I think your best bet will be to buy a video sender

Top one is a coaxial tv aerial socket rather than an input socket, bottom one is an FM aerial socket. :-)

Never seen a coaxial to anything else converter so not sure you can get one?

Strange, we must have different international coax cable standards. I've tried coax and every coax type connection I can find even hit the goodwills and electronic surplus stores. Nothing seems to plug in :-/

Isn't that just for receiving over-the-air signals? I wouldn't think it would be able to process VCR/DVD signals. If it could, then TV's of the 80's and 90's wouldn't have needed coax or RCA jacks --- People could have simply hooked their VCR to the rabbit ear screws. But they couldn't.

There called RF converters, RCA in modulated RF output. They are AC powered units so can't be used outdoors.

That is standard antenna socket for RG-59 coaxial 75 ohm cable jack. Used mainly for TV antennas but also for radio antennas in Europe, but it can be bought worldwide. Just check in electronics shops or services. It was designed by US military ages ago, so it must be available somewhere in the US.

This is how the cable looks:

RG-59.jpg

A. Outer plastic sheath
B. Copper braid shield
C. Inner dielectric insulator
D. Copper-plated core (sometimes solid core)

This is how male jack looks, although it can be straight, not L shaped.

Post pics with another connectors, so we can figure out if there is any line-in at all.
