I'm aware that line-in is basically just an AUX function, but is line-out supposed to be a feature that allows me to connect my boombox to a stereo receiver, or what?

Yes you can use your boombox as a defacto cassette deck for you AM/FM receiver. Also one can "daisy chain" several different boxes together. Provided of course they all have line in/line out rca type connections.

Thank you! Would you recommend connecting a boombox to a stereo to improve sound? I don't know if my 1970's Electrobrand would be sufficient for this.

You are most welcome sir. You know I'm not familiar with Electro brand receivers,so I can't really say. Can you post a pic of it? Also what boombox are you wanting to use. Lemme know maybe I can further help.☺

I'm away from my stereo at the moment. I can send pics later, but it's an ERC (or, Electrobrand) 1405. Not advanced in the way of sound manipulating features, but it has AUX, line-in, line-out, phone, etc. My two boomboxes lack a line-in function, but I just wanted to know if it was worth looking for a box with a line-out feature for the purpose of connecting it to the ERC

Thanks for the tip. What cable should I use for connecting my phone to my line-in boombox?

Standard headphone mini plug to stereo RCA red white Jacks work. Can get them pretty much anywhere. .

So I can just connect my phone to my 975 with one of those cords and I can just play songs that way, or is there some other converter I need?

If there is male, there exists female. If there is heaven, then there is hell. If there is TV dinners, then that explains the microwave and if you have a receiver, then somewhere, there exists a transmitter.

And if there is line-in, then what in the world would it be good for if line-out did not exist? It's the ying to the yang.

Yah,o-kay.I googled your erc receiver and it does look like you could hook a decent to good boombox up to it and listen to cassettes. You'd get yourself an rca patch cord. Connect it to the line out of said boombox and then into the line in(phono/aux)of your receiver. Home stereos always sound better than most boomboxes. You'll be rockin' with Dokken in no time.

This reminds me bitd when tv would broadcast stereo audio on the radio the line out function was pre amp line input for your stereo amp.

Already been having fun with it, hip-hop being the best genre to use. So bassy and smooth, I love it. Too bad the 975 lacks a line-out port.
