Well my dad told me a long time ago when describing the birds and the bees in relation to spreading 'em when I meet the first hot...OH!!! Sorry mind drifting!

Yes, for great stereo seperation you can't go wrong. That's the beauty in these units. Not only that, the higher quality ones have speaker cabinets made of higher quality robust materials that enhance te sound. Plus there is engineering invovled to get the punch you normally cannot get in a large slot vented al in one box.

But, with all things there are tradeoffs...

Most of mine are component sets which may involve removal of handles, screws, plates etc...but boy is it worth it for the sound stage produced!

Nah! Takes too much room. The headunit looks ugly/naked without the speakers hugging it. PLUS, I like mine tight.

like a high-end compact component system

and the marantz 3500 and 7000 have gorgeous center sections

That's what I'm talkin' bout Ira! The little reciever sections by themselves (on multi-component, not regular 3 piece units) are a work of art!

usually not beacause i have other stereos to listen to if i want to get picky with the sound. sometimes tho if i am outside i will do it but more often than not they stay in there space saving states.

if there was a kid here in the back yard while i am there i would send it into the school yard and lock the gate behind it.
if there was a drunk i would hit it.
last but not least if there was someone old i would call the police and have drive them home

no one comes into the yard unless they at least can tell me the current year, touch there finger to there nose while standing on one foot.
that is not at least sober enough to not smell like a open bottle of aqua velva or in need of a hand rail to stand.
