I don't know which speakers to keep for this M90. The original woofers look good but the other woofers sound much better.

I say go with the newer ones. Better sound and probably better bass.

Agree with fatdog. This is not a stock radio. And for someone that is willing to paint their box a non-standard color, re-letter, put in boobie tipped knobs, the answer to this question should be a no-brainer. The replacement speakers look soooo much better.

Hahaha...Thanks for the help FD & Super. I can at least compaire the sound at this point before I switch them back. I'm getting pretty good at taking the m90 apart (Now with my eyes closed).

The aluminum guitar amp speakers it is...
The chrome knobs and lettering will happen one of these days haha.
Thanks

How about painting the new speakers? I like the blue hue alot better than the grey drab look. Just a thought.

Good point, changing their appearance crossed my mind.
It's hard to notice in the photos-the cones are aluminum ok looking however the black felt dustcaps and black cloth surrounds make them busy looking.
Maybe i'll swap out the dustcaps in the future

I dunno. Those aluminum coned speakers with black dustcaps look perfectly fine and in tune with the overall color scheme to me. I personally wouldn't do anything, except maybe to those knobs since they don't look as good (or as "new") as the rest of the boombox.

Thanks man I appreciate the feedback

Unfortunately the aluminum speakers are 8 ohm which doen't help the output but they are a very clear full sounding driver. The original 6ohm jvc's have been compromised and are not 100% so I will stick with the newer drivers for now.

If you would like to see close-ups of the paint you can follow this thread. When I return home in a few weeks i'll try to snap a couple pics with a better camera and lighting.
