yeah yeah yeah you all guessed what it was. sorry for the delay. havent been home. been hookin on the corners at night to pay for this bad boy.
this thing is fn awesome. for those of you that have one...im not telling you anything you dont already know. for those of you that dont....dont hesitate to fork over the cash if you can find one.....you will not be disappointed.
the sound is superb and the looks are unparralled. its everything youd expect from a classic beast of a boombox. it is easily my new favorite.
yes this was Ira's for those of you that dont know. i have nothing but positive things to say about that guy. i cannot thank him enough. he went out of his way to ensure that this bad boy would go to someone that would appreciate it for many years to come. he knew that i wanted one and contacted me via PM. when i told him id love to have it but dont think i could afford what i thought it was worth...he gave me an offer i couldnt refuse. i honestly feel this thing could have gone for more than twice what i paid on the open market and am eternally greatful that he sent it my way. i will never sell this boomer. sorry boys.
after opening it...i took it to my girlfriends house so we could enjoy it over some drinks. after figuring out what all crazy heiroglyphics meant (thanks to MONO for decoding some of it for me too)...it finally started to play. sadly...the right VU meter wasnt working. i was devastated. so close to perfect.
Ira contacted the Superduper one and i soon recieved a pm on what the problem could be....after looking it over i assumed he was exactly right and just needed to find some time to take it apart and get at it. time has been limited for me so i couldnt get to it.
that night i decided to turn it on anyway and blast some tunes at the bar in the basement with my girl and not worry about the VU.
after about 3 hours of some serious boomin...i look over at it...and my jaw drops.....the VU had freed itself from being jammed up and was bouncin back and forth in all its heavenly greenlit glory. i was elated. it was the feeling i had hoped for and was robbed of the first time i turned it on earlier. an absolute magical moment. it was almost euphoric.
of course norm was exactly right. although he compared my playing it while the VU was jammed to holding a ceiling fan still while it was on....he was glad that it was finally working.
big thanks to Ira for being a great dude. and thanks to Norm for all of his insight and extra information he sent my way in the PMs that sprung from this situation.
without further delay...heres my baby
sadly Ira's pictures are better than mine. heres a few. sorry boys.
