Ok so I got my FH-7 MKIII a few weeks a go, but a few days later I found a boxed as new EBP-78 on Ebay USA for a low BIN I snapped it up, it's for the MKI so it's silver but they all the same :-D .
I thought the performance using the battery box would be dire, but it's actually very good and still pretty loud, but you do lose virtually all the lights except the deck vu, tuning and stereo lamp, so it looks pretty dull but will conserve the batterys so makes sense.
I also managed to get a very nice condition PS-Q3 turntable again in silver so a bit of mixing and matching going on, but it was cheap so can't complain, it just needed belts and now works very well and actually sounds pretty good.
Last but not least a big big thank you to Floyd  for giving up his handle for me as he never used it, what can I say except THANKS.

So my FH is now a portable kind of, it's a bit heavy but still a light weight compared to my VZ

Awesome Dave...the optional battery pack is just  and boxed too!

I gotta keep my eye out for one ha ha. Does anyone know if they work with different FH models? Or just the 7?
