Sony CFS-F5S

It feels like a decade since the last update on my collection in here. Time for some fresh pictures of my most recent buy at least! Trivia: It's my first Sony!
I like the looks, reminds me of my Sharp GF-525 - which admittedly is superior to the Sony CFS-F5S in both technics and design.
Anyway, pics first, blahblah later

Condition is pretty good, it really has only very minor flaws. Antenna tip is missing, contacts need a little cleaning and the logic-tape-control is not fully working.
It won't eject the tape (you have to use the manual eject lever on the side of the box) and unfortunately it won't unpause again. If it wasn't for that it would play tapes just fine

A funny feature is the ability to hide the tape control buttons, althugh it's a little pointless and probably a weak point for wear and tear.

Soundwise the Sony disappointed me a little. You'd expect a little more from a boomer of this format. Although the low weight hints on its limited capabilities.
It's a nice looking unit but nothing to impress people out on the streets

I just bought myself a Canon EOS 550D (standard lens, EF-S 18-55mm) and I can highly recommend this camera. It's brilliant. Just the right thing for the average guy who loves to take pictures of his boomboxes
You could probably call it the stepping stone to professional photography. It comes at a fair price (not a cheapo, but that's the thing with quality) and is very user friendly.

That deal sounds interesting Tell me more about your GF-515
And yes, both LEDs bounce while playing radio. The green and the red LEDs below indicate radio reception (tuning, FM stereo).

And don't get me wrong - it's not as if I didn't like the Sony. It really is a beauty, it's just that it also really lacks bass. I just tested it against the GF-525. The Sharp is a tiny little bit bigger, weighs more without batteries than the Sony does with batteries inside. And the GF-525 sounds stronger with only one speaker working than the Sony with both. Still, I'm not saying you shouldn't get this for a fair price when you have the chance to. Just know that its sound won't blow your mind

Ohoo Zippy. The 515 ...... it is fully workin instead when we opened it for fixing the power button problem (it was a dry solders issue) we closed it back little wrong way - either didnt connected or wrong connected the record bar. So now it does not record (rec is pushed, the lights for rec are lighting and so on... but noting happened on the tape ). And im so lazy to opened it again to put it on place . And a small bit of the plastic grill of the left tweeter is broken (can see it on the picture).Its really clean and complete (probably this is not original aerial ) And last - my girlfriend is flying to Berlin on 26 th that month so no shipping costs . Your turn....
You know why im jumping on that -THE LEDS for my LEDwall .
