Something Special!

I managed to record something VERY special on the weekend and thought I'd share it with you guys.

In the good old days, down here in Australia we had a lifestyle defining show called Countdown. This weekly show had 'live' performance from almost every pop muisician with gumption enough to tour down here back then. Over the 70s and 80s this show was most kids lifeline to the coolest tunes and hottest videos.

As an homage to this show the same channel runs classic Countdown episodes every saturday in January every year for the last 15 years or so. I always try and record them, as the sentimental value is off the charts.. and occassionally something very special crops up!

The below clip is from August 1983. At the height of Malcolm Maclaren's popularity with the Duck Rock album he presented the show two weeks in a row and as part of the promotion they ran a competition to win a radio like the classic on the front cover of Duck Rock.

This is some really classic stuff, elated I recorded it. If youtube take it down I'll try and get it hosted elsewhere. This is a clip I'm sure all blastafficionadoes will love.

This must be the rare "rhinozeros" version of PHILIPS!
Great.
If it was a vespa, it would fit into "quadrophenia".

What the heck happened to that box?!

What's with the horns?!

If I was going to have horns on my box, they would be AIR HORNS !

At least they'd be a bit more useful!
