Someone paid $517 without knowing if it works or not?

It's cosmetically pretty good so it's a good candidate for a high end static display if it's unrepairable. Cosmetics are becoming more important than functionality and will be increasingly so in time as more and more of these vintage units fall into the abyss of old age.

Well it does power up which is a good thing but no noise at all is scary. Good thing there is a scheme for this model though 🤔

It says powered on but not in working order. I don't think its a crazy stretch. I wouldn't have bought it for that but its worth a shot. Could be a simple fix. Then you'd have a working 920 for just over 500 bucks. To each his own. Its being sold by the Seattle goodwill....I highly doubt there was any shill bidding going on.

I'm with jimmy on this one, it's in amazing condition. Should I have the money I'd probably pay that much especially if I had a beater condition Sanyo in perfect working order

There have been MX920's that have sold recently for a lot less, with at least the tuner working.

That is correct! I hope it is a simple fix.
Seattle Goodwill guys may not even know how to turn it on and make it work.
That unit is so weak in the bass department when you compare the size of it in its class.. After all it is a show piece!

Wouldn't doubt it. There's really no laws against it.

By the way, I looked at the pics more closely and I agree, it's in nice shape. Those models are usually all scratched up.

I've purchased a few boomboxes off Ebay and every now and then I still like to throw a bid in if I see one that's on my wishlist, but it does appear that a lot of shill bidding is taking place. Several boxes that I've recently bid on, ended up being "purchased" by bidders with a feedback rating of 0.

I know, I don't understand why there's so many zero-feedback bidders. Either they're shill bidders, or they're trying to hide certain purchases from their wife.
