Some New Pix Of Some Old Favourites (And 1 New One!)

I've been trying to improve my photograph/video quality with some lighting kits I bought off ebay (those stand deallys with the umbrellas).
I'm really pleased with how they came up, and can't wait to do more. I currently have a head cold at the moment, so recording a voiceover
for a video wasn't really optional, so I did some shots of some of my favourites.

All are great boxes, but I'm a HUGE fan of the S90,... probably 'cause I'm listening to mine right now.

I've always talked about stepping up my lighting game, but I haven't gotten around to investing the money into the set-up yet...
Great to see somebody with a great collection taking pics like a pro!

want to add an idea
a year after lyles book is out --and has ample time to sell

you and mono --should make another book -
when you finally get the lyle book -
you will love it --
his photography style is so very different from yours--
that these books wont compete

also - lyles book has extreme emphasis on box culture
and all the social history involved-

but its has nothing at all like the comparos and reviews
you do so well -

combine your pro studio photography --
with monos 'in your face' street shots

and ... THATS A BOOK !!!

When you're ready to take pics to the next level, i can offer some tips.....i used to operate a small glam/still-life studio a while back....

Keeping your boxes further away from the backdrop will put more emphasis on the box (and not the background).

You'lll also need a large curved-card, or make an "S-board" to bring out the best for your boxes....no more tables etc

Ira: I'm not sure I have the skills yet for your dream book! Haha, like Mono says, I don't know about the probability of it happening, but it would definitely be fun.

Marty: thanks for the tips! This was my first experiment. The backdrop is actually a shower curtain I had lying around,
which is also too reflective. I just ordered a black muslin back drop which should give the next lot of shots a lot more pop.
I'll probably continue using the piece of smoked glass for them to sit on as I really love the reflections you get off it. Should be a nice
combo with that and the black back drop.

Lighting is such a huge part of getting the most out of pics, I need to divert a few dollars to better lighting myself.
