Just got these both in yesterday and figured some of y'all might've been on ebay tracking em. The VZ2000 I got for $202.50 + $50 shipping after he had $90 originally estimated. I have 2 friends that after seeing my other 2000s, they asked if I would ever sell one, so I've been keeping an eye out for one like this. Cheap, yet should just need belts, couple switches and a cleaning like I've done before. This should be a solid 7/8 when done. And it was one of the top 5 packaging jobs I've seen with firm box, nice padding inside, and all kinds of 'FRAGILE' taping and 'DONT CRUSH' around the box. Was happy to see UPS roll it on a dolly from around back vs just grabbing and tossing it around like I've seen before when picking them up.
The Rising is even better than I thought from the orig pics. All cosmetic issues from 30 years are coming off pretty easy with paper towels, mild cleaner, toothpicks, etc etc. And all tuner/led plastic is real nice with no scratches or issues that didn't come off with minimal cleaning. Sounds great too, just obviously needs some deOxit in the switches as they're a bit sketchy, but when in place it's a rather good sounding box from my 5 minutes of messing around. And of course needs at least 1 new antenna. Anyone find good replacement ant's for these, and is this white tipped one orig? I wouldn't think so but I haven't looked into it yet.
These are the 'before' pics. I'll update later as I have the tape keys, metal guards, etc shining already. That stuff on the left woofer is just gunk not the grill and should be easy to get off, luckily not on the woofer.
Love the packaging and fragile/dont crush tape. Obviously the box isn't new, but it was still 100% firm and supportive.
The front plastic doesn't have any deep scratches, but some odd surface abrasion. If all goes well it should all come off with the scratch remover stuff I use and a real sore elbow/wrist.
