I've often wondered what my favorite color is on a boombox. Can you Imagine a silver M90 or a Black Conion C100? There are quite a bit of colors on them. Silver of course being the most dominantly used. What about imagining what a Lasonic TRC931 would look like in Silver?

Then do you often why each manufacturer chose the color they did for each box :hmmm: Or that some boxes look better black as opposed to silver?

There are so many colors being used, Silver, Black, Gray, Gold, Champagne, Red, White, Blue, Green,etc...
It's actually kind of hard choosing because each individual box looks good in the color chosen :-D

I mean I have a chocolate brown Superscope that looks yummy, but yet I can't imagine it any other color :hmmm:

Still I think Silver boxes have always stood out the most. So me personally I would probably choose that Silver is the best color for a Boombox

Black boxes with chrome parts looks bad ass, but then silver look more elegant. Red ones fits for rock music in my opinionand this kind of music style, theres also yellow, like philips series, which fits taking to beach.
Im between black and silver, but if i have to choose i would say black :-P

From the start, my vintage brain remembers Silver and therefor this is my favorite. I have always pursued they "Eye Candy" silver radios.

BUT....

The more time I have spent on this site, the more my mind has evolved into other colors...

The Black and Chrome of the 975 can not be denied

The Champagne of the M71 and the "Gold" 100F :w00t:

RED on many Compo boxes seem to make them look more complex with all the switches!

But Now....Now I love all the custom colors people are coming up with. The Candy metal flake. The Red, White and Blue M70's, the Deep Burgundy radio's I have seen....even my EVH M70. :chris920:

Now I'm not sayin' I'm resprayin' my collection....but I may have one or two custom color boxes in my future!

I hereby decree that all boxes must have a black backside.
Then, if the front is silver, the speakers must be black.
If on the other hand the front is dark colored, then the speakers must be white.

I'm kinda partial to two-tone... especially when it's shades of brown!

Black. Normally about all electronics the top line is black ( cameras, dj stuff, car stereo and so on) Its not exactly the same in boomboxery , but still the black looks lot meaner and cool.

This is very interesting, and I've been thinking about it quite a bit.

For my favourite radios that I collect, I'd have to say I much prefer the real ghettoblaster black and chrome style.
I love this combination and much prefer it to the silve/chrome look.

But this is for big onepiecers. When it comes to Mini/minicompos/threepiecers I much prefer the much more colourful lines from
the mid 80s. All the red, blue and pastel models from that time I fall in love with instantly.

When it comes to the models inbetween, I love the radios that were made to look more classy otr high end by using different types of finish, especially the woodgrain models from Panasonic and Sony.

Or like this, which I consider one of the top 5 best looking radios ever

But as you all know, I love my colours on boomboxes, and when it comes to the my ideal dreamblaster colour scheme, well, I've already got that sorted!

Silver/Chrome for me. Just reeks of high end audio equipment class! Black just looks cheap and has an obvious "made of plastic" look.

Hahah, I'll consider that offer, Ira!!

Top 5 Best Lookers for me: Conion C100F, AKA J7. DiscoLite, Perdisco TRK-8600RM and the Toshiba BomBeat40.
These are all closely followed by the original Lasonic TRC-931, Technisonic TC-999, Sharp GF-777, AKA Bolt Box, Toshiba RT-S90.

Those are all radios I can stare at in awe for hours on end without even having them turned on.

And that's 3000 posts!

For one piece boxes it's got to be the classic rectangular silver case, with chrome woofer and tweeter trims, and chrome handle ends.
