My sister-in-law (Kalee) is over with my wife and baby today. I come home they're talking, walking around. I do a couple things then I sit down and pop open my recently purchased "Boombox Project" book.

Sidebar- Pretty cool book, but only on the first couple pages so far.

Okay, so my wife sees me reading it, I get an "Oh jeez," to which I reply, "What I can't read this?" and I laugh and keep reading... Then, out of nowhere, her sister says, "Oh yea, Kyle wants to buy a boombox." Kyle is her boyfriend, I don't know that he's rich, but, he has a lot more money than me.

Well my ears perk up, cause I think maybe I got somebody new in the game, and I ask "Really? Cool! Does he know what kinda style he is looking for?" She says that she doesn't know, and my wife blurts out, "You could just sell him one of yours!" I mention I'm not yet interested in selling one of mine, possibly the 920, in hopes I get a nicer one in the future, but ultimately, not interested in selling any right now.

Anyways me and the wife blabber back and forth a bit, and I ask Kalee how much Kyle is willing to spend and tell her that they can range anywhere from $50 to $1000. And get this... she says, "Oh, no, he want's to buy one of YOURS."

WHAT!!!!!! I've been duped!!! It's a set-up!!! He doesn't want one at all, the only one he's seen is my little Panny 5031 (darker version of the 5030), and that's not enough to get anyone into boomboxes if they've never had one before. I'm beside myself, I couldn't believe it. Betrayed by my own wife.

Needless to say, I made it clear that I will not sell mine to him, because they are not for sale, (really it's because I know it's a set-up). Long story, but I had to tell you guys, vent a little. I'm not mad... just.... disappointed.

I don't get it. How is it a setup? Your wife can't force him to buy something he's not interested in.

I think you need some one on one time with this dude, show him your baddest blaster and reel him in!

See how F'n funny it is when this dude has a crankin' room full of blasters and he spends all his time here on Boomboxery totally ignoring precious "Kalee"!

THAT'LL LEARN THOSE WOMEN! :annoyed:

It's a setup to get rid of one of MY boxes. He's never seen what any of mine look like, so how could he want to buy one of mine that he's never seen.

My wife's sister probably asked him to buy one of mine. But I guarantee they think, "oh 50 bucks, no big deal, I'll just drop it off at goodwill later and say it broke." It's a conspiracy.

That's an awesome idea... if only I saw them more often. Get him hooked. He's kind of a hipster, so he might be into it just for the retro aspect. Haha.
