Found this thing yesterday at Trash N Treasure (Flea Market) http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/silver_st808.html

Interesting little box, 4 speaker "wide stereo" the two little speakers on the side of the box are barely larger than PC speakers though.

It looks like it belonged to a painter as it has paint spots and the back is green... I had to replace the stereo LED because it was blown, I replaced it with a bright blue LED for something different.

The tape player belts need replacing and I had to do some resoldering to the aerial electrical points so that stereo stations would get picked up without me having to hold the aerial.

Can't say I've ever seen the Silver brand before in my travels.

I like the blue LED replacement. Maybe you could replace the radio dial lights with blue LEDs too. Try and use a baking soda paste to clean the back - maybe those stains will go away.

Wow, you couldn't get more symetrical than that!

5 buttons on the left, 3 knobs in the middle, and 5 buttons on the right.

One tuner glass on the left, one meter in the center, and another tuner glass on the right.

Everything is perfectly centered! Love it.

It was a pain to get the LED in, but I like your thinking maybe green or if I'm feeling feminine one day Jaycar sells pink LED's!... ;-)

I'll try baking powder, wasn't too sure what to use, I was worried if I used turps or metho it would melt the plastic.

Greetings, I do remember seeing this box circa 1978. Very rare find. I lived in Panama at the time, the Silver brand was heavily marketed there in the 70s. What are the functions to the top switches as I can not make them out in the photographs.
