I just had to shout out to our members about blu_fuz and this marvelous site,

First a bit of background, I bought my first real Boom box as a freshman at Hofstra university. it was the grand Daddy of boxes, the great JVC RC838. I paid $120 for it which for me at 19 was a big deal, I was a college freshman at the time but it was my reward to myself for getting in a prestigious university That was #5 nationally in my chosen field of accounting.

Hofstra was very prestigious and as you might imagine quite expensive So having to work my way through school I worked campus security , I averaged 60-80 hours a week all through my undergrad and grad school years, much of it overnight between 10pm and 8 am. and my trusty JVC RC838 was my constant companion. It became a bit of a campus joke because you see I'm disabled, Imagine if you will a guy on Crutches with a humoungus bookbox running across campus everyday, it became my trademark .

For nigh on 8 years My Jvc and i were inseparable,(well except for in the Shower of course....haha) Until 3 days before my Final graduation Ceremony, Some rat fink Stole my Jvc while i was helping a security buddy with a problem in the dorm and left my Jvc behind the security desk. As you can imagine I was upset, after all we'd been through it was like losing family.

Over the intervening 30 years I looked to find another JVC RC838,even going to The NYC JVC factory, but alas it was no longer in production, so I assumed Id never own one again.

Then last week while on ebay what do I see, A JVC RC838 in pretty good condition, so I bid like a madman and I fortunately win the bidding. You can imagine how happy I am, Now a retired former Federal treasury agent, aged 56, I am finally welcoming an emotional treasure back home.

This is where Blu_Fuz enters our story,.... Wanting to properly equipt my prize Box I needed a Shoulder strap. where on earth could I find one for a 36 year old Boomer Like this? And It couldnt just be any old Shoulder strap. It needed to be befitting an old friend, and built to my special needs, because i'm still Disabled. While on youtube looking at videos of the JVC RC838 I came across a video extolling Blu_Fuz' marvelous craftsmanship in Shoulder straps, so I searched for him here on Boomboxery and found a wonderful thriving community of likeminded lovers of their own "old friends" which is truly a blessing. and after talking to Blu_Fuz, he set out to make me a true work of art, a custom Shoulder strap that truly will do my old friend Justice.

They arrived today ( he graciously made me a spare as well, since the Class act that he is, he Identified with my emotional attachment, I have with the JVC RC838, its something I think only a Boomboxery member can truly appreciate) I simply must say Blu_Fuz does marvelous work, they are everything I could have hoped for. they are a quality product in every way. obviously made with great care and with an innate understanding that our boxes are more than simply a possession, but truly are an "old friend" that we cherish accordingly. Thank you Boomboxery and Blu_Fuz for understanding that lives have texture and memories live inside these precious Items.

Anyone looking for that absolutely perfect accessory for your box, let me suggest Blu_Fuz...... you simply cant do better. He is a true Craftsman... and He understands the nature of how we feel about our special friends

WOOOOW! What a story!

Sadly, your not the first to come here and say you had lost a radio from back in the day do to theft. It's brutal to read these stories, because allot of us do understand and respect what it meant to have bought one of these expensive unit's back when they were new.

I have to say, you didn't pick a light weight blaster! The RC-838 is a BEAST of a unit! :frankenstein:
Really before they started shrinking electronics. If you open the 838, you will find it is PACKED inside with components!

I'm glad you were able to find your way here and YES, Blu_Fuz's straps are the very best. I have many of them, some for JVC's and some other custom jobs that fit specialized radios. Joe does a great job and I am always recommending them!

Just wondering.....what video did you see? :-D

Anyway, thanks for the story, hopefully you will hang out with us, maybe pick up a few more radio's and go NUTZ with us! :dunce:

Welcome to the site!

I really have no words to say, but thank you to Chris (Lasonic TRC-920) for making and keeping the videos he put on youtube for the world to see with some great reviews of the straps I put together.

Poet, thank you sir for being a brand new member and putting your trust in me and this brotherhood here at boomboxery. The stories of the stolen boomboxes and getting back to the childhood memories we cherish just pulls at my heart strings and makes me happy to be a part of it, though a small part.

Also to thank boomboxery and the old S2G guys (71spud let me borrow an OG JVC strap to replicate) that were able to get me the proper info to produce/sell the JVC replica straps and kept the demand over all these years.

Thanks to everyone else for the support and being a 2nd family here for all things in life, not just the boomboxes.
