I got a VZ-2500 in April 2012. It is in great cosmetic shape 9 out of 10.
Came all the way from Europe with no damage. I have been having some problems with it, lately. When I play the radio on AM/FM SW/LW. I get a lot of crackling when moving the tuning knob. I also get the right channel cutting in and out. So sound only comes from the left speaker.
This clears up and I can get audio from both the left and right channel for a while. Then it tends to cut in and out.
The function buttons appear to have a problem as well for AM/FM LW/SW. The crackle when pushed and sometimes the sound will go off totally when they are pushed. .This happens more with the radio buttons. Less with the Tape and Phono buttons. But it does occur.
My guess is they are becoming oxidized on the inside. Does one have to open the radio to clean away the build up of oxidation?
I used the cassette deck about a month ago, I usually try to play a tape once a week at least to keep everything thing working as it should.
Yesterday I tried the tape deck and saw that the right reel (take up reel) Would not move. The reel on the left side did move. But of course the tape began to unravel..
Fast Forward and Rewind work strongly. When I push play WO a tape in I can see that the right reel is not moving. I hear the motor turning on. But no moment of the take up reel.
I assume the problem is a slack belt or a belt that has come off.
Is their a separate belt for the play function, and a separate belt for the FF and rew function?
The Turntable works Wo any problems at this point.
I would like to get the old girl back to 100% working condition
Anyone else have these problems? I am not handy enough to do repair work myself. I live in Pomona NY. Not far from the NJ boarder. Plus I am fairly close to CT.
Any members live in NJ or CT that have gone thru this boom box and done the necessary repairs?
Thank you for all your help guys.
