Hi All

I am very happy today as i am the proud owner of a SHARP VZ 2500. This has come from Bredgeo's (Brian) personal collection which he has been selling off in recent months.
When i saw that Brian was selling it i just had to lay down the cash for it as I knew great packing would be assured. You see the VZ 2500 is a very rare beast here in Australia. While you can walk down the street most days and trip over a VZ 2000, the 2500 is the boombox equivalent of a hens tooth here.

It arrived yesterday and i was mightily impressed with the packing job done by Brian. He really puts 100% into ensuring the best possible chance of a safe journey half way around the world.

I haven't played it yet as i still need to re-mount the turntable section after Brian dis-assembled it for safe passage (again - 100% care taken), so when i do i will post up a vid of her in action. Meanwhile, here are a few pics of the unpacking stage.

The moral of this story is that if you need to get a boombox from overseas, this is the place to do business. With members like Brian, you are assured of a great deal and the piece of mind of knowing that you are dealing with someone who genuinely cares.

Thanks Brian.

Cheers

Way to go Jeremy...i'm lookin forward to a full write-up and comparison to the 2000.

Chris, i don't think the 2500 was even sold here in Aus...that's how rare they are

Thanks guys.

That's right Scotty. The VZ 2500 was never sold in Australia for reasons unknown. Tshorba informed me of that. He thought it could have been that the 2000 was so successful here. Most people probably wouldn't upgrade so quickly back in those days given the price this stuff was.
I know of at least one other one in Oz owned by a certain member here from Geelong.

On a side note, i just saw another boomboxery member on TV. It was AZA (Aaron) and he was on the ABC show Can We Help (or something like that) reuniting a family with some old tapes he found. There was a nice shot of him being interviewed in front of his boomboxes. Gees, it's a small world sometimes!

Back on topic, i fixed the little issue with the door last night, so i'm going to be giving the 2500 a work out over the coming days. I'll post more pics and a vid soon.

Cheers

Awesome, Jeremy! I love the 2500, I imported mine from japan, I don't think theres many in .au at all, maybe just our 2!

Best of luck with her.
And brilliant idea with the plastic bottles on the packing, Brian! Strong and able to take impact, but very lightweight.

Rock On.

Aaron posted a video of this a long time ago, might of even been back in the S2G days. It was nice of him to go to the effort to return the tapes

So, you will have to do a comparison between the 2000 & 2500. Glad to see it arrived safely. Hows the 2000, still good after the repairs?

Very nice 2500 ;-). I don't know why, and maybe it's the looks, but I think I like the VZ2000 better in looks department :-). Gonna get me a 2000 someday. But at least you got a rare one!!!!
