Hi guys, just joined up to Boomboxery after finding quite a good VZ 2000 (had one back in 1983) ive fancied on for years. Anyhow ive got her and shes not in bad fettle for 27yrs old, two of the sliders are missing, i think someone has tried to repair them at some point and made a mess, but i can still move the sliders with a thin blade.
the guy who i got her off said he had changed the belt (turntable) and today i finally got a LP disk to try (found an abba LP in a charity shop so please dont laugh......) she sounds quite good but on playing side A, the sound sounded a little slow, so i switched to side B and it sounded ok, im listening to her as i type and wondered if i keep her going for an hour, the motor will finally free itself off (or belt) in fact its just moved to side A and it sounds fine. The previous owner said he bought it new in 1984 and said that it hadnt had that much used over its life, and when he decided to sell her, he stripped down every part, he shown me the photos. He said he was into electronics and checked her over for any dry joints etc.
Its really bringing me some pleasure listening, takes me back to the 80's.......
