Hello again everyone,
Just throwing up the restoration of my black cone version of the VZ...
This one was in pretty bad shape, I bought it from a guy whos father had it in his business workshop..I think he had a cabinetry business.. The unit was covered in paint splashes and splatter.. The inside was full of saw dust.

The befores..

Opening her up....

The restoring phase..

Washing and retrobrite-ing...

Polished up

The paint splatter was bad on these, so i just resprayed it satin black and decided to go with a brushed aluminium surround..

Body high filled sanded and painted..

Fixed broken pivot arm for tape tray

Cloth tape used in place of the factory material tape.. i think it works better...

Re-assembly:

Again... I am just flabbergasted.

Hey, where did you find that narrow cloth tape? That would come in handy on more than a few boomboxes.

Go on ebay and type in cloth tape. Comes in various widths. I think primary they use it for looming car harness wiring so it doesn't rattle around while driving. Works great for us

Hahhh tell me about it. I've got them both on my boombox wall and I constantly worry if they are going to rip the screws out of the shelf or bring the wall down. I love how heavy it Is loaded with batteries.. 😂😂

I was able to polish up the outer chrome with alot of autosol and a dremel. The inside finger pit which was worn to bare pastic I use Spastix chrome paint. You'll have to use a black backing paint then a clear. Took a few attempts to get it right but it came out close enough to come.
