These were $1200 new? :-O

Yes I saw these at District Furniture in Chicago back in the day and wanted one so bad. It looked so big and bad. Although at 15 yrs old and only making $20 a weekend at newspaper stand I knew I could never afford it

I never saw these back in the day. I may not have been looking. The first time I saw one was when I returned from Japan and one was shipped back with all our stuff.

A real back breaker.

OK, where did you get that copy of my blue badge photo? :w00t:

The VZ looks mightily impressive whichever way you look at it - unless you're trapped under one in the desert and the next bus isn't due for hours - but weight? No, it's only about quarter of a Stone heavier than the JVC PC-5  and one of those could be hidden totally within the cabinet of the Sharp. Well in two planes it could, though the JVC would stick out of the back by around 2" and you'd want to take the record player out of the Sharp first.

If the VZ and the much more densely built JVC fell in love and made a baby, it would probably look a lot like that hacked photo of the younger me.

it seemed lighter when i was 19 and just got one from my favorite pawn shop around 1987/88 or so , my girlfriend at the time hated it because i actually used mine and took it with me to visit her at jmu in harisonbburg va. i drove my moms 69 caddy sedan deville 3 hours each way with the vz in the trunk. only a caddy trunk can make the vz look small. anyway i got some stares both good and bad but fark it i can't live without my radio , and i rocked that mutha ****er hard with no shame lol.
