See the battery door foam and those
U-Haul Mover's Stretch Plastic Wrap

...
The guy states that the boom box has been serviced so he probably replaced it then the foam on the battery lid to protective wrap is probably just to keep it from getting scratched as long as he's not advertising the plastic cling as new seems pretty honest about the condition. He should have mentioned those 2 things in the description. Though.

I’m not so sure that’s stretch wrap. It looks like that protective cling stuff they put onto glass to prevent scratches, removed, then put back on. Regardless, I’ve never bought one new so I wouldn’t know. Looks to be in great shape though and while 6 grand is a ton of money, there’s at least 1 or 2 sellers would be asking 10 or 15 grand for this.

If it's been serviced then it's no longer new and shouldn't be advertised as such. Also nobody used green protective film. It was always transparent. And it never had any wrinkles like that junk he put on there. I'm not sure who he's trying to fool.

Way back in 1982 I bought a new Sharp GF9696. It had no cling on the dial or handle. It was all a nice plastic cover slipped over the boombox and wrapped nicely over it when you remove the Styrofoam protectors. Instruction manual, connecting cord and all were in plastic bags kept on the side on the box.

I've seen this guy before.
He seems to have "new" boxes for sale quite often.
I believe he had a new M70 a while back.
Currently, he also has an M90L for $11,755.42 if anyone is interested.
Better hurry, there's 170 watchers.

In all honesty even if it was brand new unopened it would probably still need belts which means somebody has to open it and ruin the value of it being new which don't mean s*** if it's part of it don't work I would rather have something that serviced by a professional even if it's new because what the f*** is good and it being new if the s*** don't work out of the box. I mean he's probably asking twice what it's worth but still somebody might pay it won't be me lol.

Can you imagine the stress of working on that boombox knowing you might be just ruin the f***** altogether with the value of it but somebody has to do it so he's got balls I'll give him that.

I don't agree that a brand new in the box boombox with belts mimicking tar from LaBrea is more valuable than a brand new in the box boombox that had it's belts just refreshed so that it can work like a brand new in the box, boombox. But that's just me. I have a brand new in the box drum pad kaboom that has knobs with that dreaded degraded rubbery coating. I would have no hesitation of removing the knobs, stripping the sticky coating and placing the boombox back into the carton, and not miss a minute of sleep doing so. It's still brand new to me.

How can the box be in such good condition and the Grill Stickers, Never would have come out of the factory that good must be reproduction.

Yes, it's not difficult to reprint boxes. Several companies will accept image files from you, and make a box in whatever dimensions you want. I've heard some places even make styrofoam inserts.

I’d venture to guess that a 1-off box and styrofoam inserts would cost an insane amount unless you’re gonna order 5000 sets or something.

Now I see it's about $1,000 Boombox with $5,000 worth of b******* which equals $6,000 package. understood.
